President & Chief Executive Officer

David Aiello is the President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Synergex Corporation. Originally founded in 1987, David has been instrumental in raising the bar in the logistics, distribution, and supply chain management industry in Canada. For over 20 years, David has played a key role in Synergex’ operations and he is a pioneer in providing integrated logistics services within Canada. His hands-on leadership style has been a catalyst for Synergex’ diversified growth and expansion.

David has led Synergex’ progression from a privately held company to a publicly traded company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. He has revolutionized supply chain management in Canada by making strategic investments in innovation, and developing value-added products through the use of emerging technologies. This unique and proven business model has resulted in the Company’s expansion into other global markets such as Mexico and in Latin America.

David is a graduate from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and holds a Chartered Accountant designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. Aside from being a brilliant entrepreneur, David also has a significant background in biomedical sciences, information technology, and corporate law. David’s intuitive business sense and ethics has positioned him as a visionary, a leader, and a masterful strategist. David is also fluent in English, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.


Brian Goard, CMA
Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Goard joined Synergex October 6, 2009 to lead the Corporation’s global operations. Mr. Goard served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Mother Parkers Tea and Coffee Inc. where he led the company to be one of the premier producers and marketers of private label and branded coffee, tea and related products in the North American retail and food service markets. He was responsible for all functional areas of the business including manufacturing, supply chain management, marketing, sales, finance, information technology, and human resources. He was instrumental in the strategic repositioning of the business, shifting the company from a Canadian based operation to a North American focus, with a balanced sales base between Canada and the United States. Mr. Goard achieved over 10% sales growth year over year since joining Mother Parker’s in 1995. Mr. Goard also brings over 21 years of experience as Chief Financial Officer of H.J Heinz Company of Canada and Treasurer of Goodyear Canada. Mr. Goard is a certified management accountant, a fellow of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada and a graduate of McMaster University.


Matt Reiter
Vice President

Matt began his working career with Synergex over 15 years ago when he was originally hired as a general employee. Since that time, Matt has grown with the Company to from a general logistics employee to evolve into a Freight Forwarding Specialist, a Truck Freight Specialist, Transportation Manager, Manager of Operations, and was subsequently appointed as Vice President, Logistics in 2001. In 2006, Matt was appointed to Senior Vice-President, Operations. Matt is currently responsible for the operational management of Synergex’ creative services, product assembly, physical logistics operations, inventory, customer relationships, and sales operations for both Canada and Latin America. Matt graduated from the Business Administration Program at Sheridan College in 1993.


John L. Smith
Senior Vice President

John was appointed as the Corporation’s Corporate Secretary and Senior Vice-President on June 16, 2004 and from August 19, 2003 until such date he was the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Corporation. John was elected to the Board of Directors on September 11, 2003. Mr. Smith also served as President of two of the Corporation’s operating companies (Lumberman’s Credit Bureau Limited and Canada Bonded Attorney & Legal Directory, Limited). John brings over 20 years of experience in the Canadian financial services sector, having held executive management positions with both domestic and foreign financial institutions in their commercial, asset-based lending and retail units. Mr. Smith held various positions with the Laurentian Bank of Canada, ABN AMRO Bank Canada N.V., North American Trust, HSBC Bank Canada including Senior Vice-President, Commercial Banking; Senior Vice-President, Credit; and Vice-President, Asset Based Lending; during the period of August 1980 to August 2003.


Eric So, LLB
Vice President, Corporate Strategy & General Counsel

Eric So was appointed Vice-President, Corporate Strategy and General Counsel in June 2006 and was previously General Counsel of the Corporation. Eric is responsible for all legal matters of the corporation, mergers and acquisitions activities, and assists with the strategic positioning of the Company in the international marketplace. Prior to joining Synergex in 2006, Eric was an associate at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, where he specialized in corporate finance and securities law. He has advised both public and private companies on mergers and acquisitions and a variety of financing transactions. He obtained his law degree from the University of Windsor in 2000, and a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in 1997. Throughout his career, Eric has, and continues to serve on the boards of directors for several community-based organizations.


Nick Blasutto, CA, CBV
Chief Financial Officer

Nick Blasutto was originally employed as a Controller in October 2002 for Synergex Group Inc., and was later appointed as Chief Financial Officer on June 16, 2004. Prior to joining Synergex, Nick was employed with a business valuation firm where he prepared business valuations reports primarily for private business. From 1993 – 1997, Nick worked for a public accounting firm, primarily in the areas of auditing, accounting, and tax.

Nick obtained an Honours Bachelor of Accounting degree in 1996 from Brock University, and holds a Chartered Accountant designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. He also holds a Chartered Business Valuator designation, which he obtained in 2002.


Kevin Daniels
Chief Communications Officer

Kevin Daniels joined Synergex in February 2005. Kevin is responsible for performance and profitability audits of several operating divisions within the Corporation, vendor management, preparation of public communication and timely disclosure material. Kevin also leads the Corporation’s business development efforts in relation to government contract bidding and negotiations. In August 2008, Kevin was assigned responsibility of the Corporation’s investor relations function.

Kevin began his diverse career path in public education, and quickly expanded his horizons to hold a senior administrator role with a not-for-profit crown corporation of the Government of Canada; providing educational support programs and administering government loan programs to small businesses. Immediately prior to joining Synergex, Kevin served as a senior political advisor to several Cabinet Ministers of the Government of Ontario, and other Members of Provincial Parliament (MPP’s) in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Kevin was educated at The University of Western Ontario in the Honours Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) and concurrent Bachelor of Education program.
